Venice/Santa Monica weekday or weekend?

How big of a difference is visiting Venice Beach/Santa Monica Beach areas on weekdays versus weekends in June assuming I will be staying at a hotel in the area? Thanks.

Venice/Santa Monica weekday or weekend?

Well it somewhat depends on the weather. Venice can be foggy in June, the locals call it ';June Gloom';. If it is overcast, there will be slightly more traffic and beach on the weekend, but not too crazy. If it is the first nice weekend, there will be big crowds.

Often, the morning fog will give way to sun in the afternoon. Personally, I love both weather conditions, walking on the beach in the fog is a great way to meditate and clear your head out.

Either way, Venice beach is interesting with a lovely beach, street merchants, ';colorful locals'; and lots of places to eat and drink. On a real sunny beach day, the Venice bike path will be clogged with clueless pedestrians, but early in the morning or in the middle of the week it is great to rent a bike, (they have tandems and recumbents too). You can ride south towards Marina del Rey and on to Manhattan Beach or North towards Malibu for many miles if you are fit.

One thing not to miss: a ride on the historic carousel on the Santa Monica Pier. You have seen it in many films. $1 for adults and half that for kids. A real piece of LA history.

Enjoy your visit!

Do you mean for parking? For restaurants?

Venice is very crowded on Sundays in the summer. Parking is near impossible after about 11AM. Saturday is a little better. Santa Monica is almost always easy, it%26#39;s less condensed than Venice.

If you%26#39;re in a hotel in the area, it really doesn%26#39;t make a difference about the parking, you can either walk everywhere, or rent a bike, or take the 25cent Tide Shuttle between SM and Venice.
