Napa or Sonoma in April

I am trying to surprise my wife. She loves wine country. Does anyone have any feedback between Napa and Sonoma? Is the weather ok in early April?

Napa or Sonoma in April

Both are nice. Its usually nice in April...but we can get our rainy spells (unfortunately its too early to tell if its a rainy or sunny year.).

In terms of Healdsburg - Sonoma - Napa, all are great.

If you want smaller wineries and easier access to the ocean and redwoods, opt for Healdsburg.

If you want a more laid back vacation, Sonoma is nice as you can see most of the wineries in a couple of days.

If you want the larger wineries and fancier restaurants, than Napa Valley is good.

All in all - they%26#39;re all great. If you want to see Napa and Sonoma, base yourself in Napa...perhaps at Candlelight Bed and Breakfast and you can enjoy both.

If your wife likes shopping, though both towns have shopping, Sonoma%26#39;s shopping is more ';compact'; as most of it is on a main square. Napa wineries are more highly concentrated - you could do wineries in one town one day and the other town the second day.

I wouldn%26#39;t worry about the weather - it is more likely to be fine than not fine. If it%26#39;s bad, spend more time on winery tours or take a more leisurely lunch or dinner. ENJOY!

Thank you for your feedback. This gives me some great ideas. If I were to use Hilton points, which hotel would you recomend? I know the Embassy Napa is one thought, but saw some negative comments. Would another Hilton property in Napa or Sonoma be better or is the Embassy Napa really ok?

Trust me--splurge for your wife, and stay at a romantic inn or cottage instead of trying to use your Hilton points.

We love both areas, last Spring we were in Yountville at the Villagio Inn %26amp; Spa, a veyr romantic place to stay with many great amenities.

In Sonoma, the Sonoma Mission Inn is a beautiful resort with an amazing spa, we have stayed there 3 times now. Both areas have many fantastic restaurants and wineries to visit. :)
