Best Route: Palm Springs to Bakersfield

I%26#39;m interested in the quickest route.

One time I took I-10 to I-215 to I-15 and then CA 138 to Palmdale and north through Tehachapi. I seem to remember the traffic around Palmdale was heavy. Is this the best route?

Or should I stay on I-15 and take US 395 north to CA 58 and then head west?

Or maybe skirt the main population center by taking I-210 through Pasadena to I-5?

Advice is what I need. Many Thanks!!

If your travel is in the morning, then you will hit traffic on all those routes somewhere along the way.

The least amount of traffic will be the 58 route.

The travel time is the same on the 58 route as compared to the 210/I5 route which is the shortest route if there was no traffic through Pasadena.

And as Bru implies, if it%26#39;s Winter then you could have some problems using the 58 route because of Cajon pass and also problems using the Grapevine with the shortest miles route with snow .

I use the 58 route all the time because I hate driving through LA or Pasadena,

travel time apporx 3 to 3.5hrs,

Good Luck!!

We plan to leave Palm Springs on Saturday, March 29th, probably about 9 AM, but would be open to leaving earlier if traffic is better.

Thanks.

You shouldn%26#39;t have any problems on an early Saturday morning on any of the routes, because there is no commuter traffic. The most direct route is through Pasadena.
