Hi all,
Hubby and I are travelling to Los Angeles in June but have limited time there (just over 2 days). We arrive on a Wednesday afternoon at 13:00 and I envisage that it will take us 2 hours to get our luggage and get the car we%26#39;re hiring and get to our hotel (Beverly Hilton).
Once we%26#39;ve checked in, I thought we could go and take a walk down the Hollywood Walk of Fame and familiarise ourselves with the area. Perhaps go for a bit of a drive and end up dining somewhere casual near our hotel that evening? Any suggestions?
On the Thursday we%26#39;d like to spend the day at Universal Studios but will need another casual dining option for the evening.
On Friday I was hoping that we could fit in the Farmer%26#39;s Market, Warner Brothers and Chinese Grauman%26#39;s theatre. Will need breakfast and dinner suggestions for this day too.
We depart early on the Saturday morning.
Please could you suggest the best way to fit in what we want to see in the limited time we have.
Thanks,
Kaz
Los Angeles itinerary advice
Tell us a little about the kind of food you like and what your budget is.
On Wednesday, the Hollywood Walk of Fame is 20-30 minutes by car from your hotel. You can park in the giant Hollywood %26amp; Highland Center Mall near the western end of the Walk of Fame. One-half block west of the mall is the Chinese theater so you can view it on day 1 instead of day 3.
Regarding Universal, if you get there when it opens, you should be able to see most of it in 4 hours or sowhich means that you could fit in Warner Brothers afterward.(about 2 hours).
Thius gives you a whole empty day. Why not spend it at the neach? (Santa Monica, Venice, Malibu)

Thanks HopSkipJump,
We eat most types of food except for sushi. Want somewhere ';cheap and cheerful'; as we don%26#39;t have a massive food budget. We won%26#39;t be having a full 3 courses anyway. Probably somewhere with a varied menu.
Thanks for the advice about the itinerary. It was just what we were after.
Where could we fit in the Farmer%26#39;s Market?
Thanks a ton,
Kaz
Your ideas sound like lots of backtracking.
ON arrival day, I wouldn%26#39;t head for the Walk of Fame at that time of the afternoon, a mess of traffic. Browse Beverly Hills/Rodeo Drive/Restaurant Row which are closer to your hotel, or drive the hills of Beverly for some homes-gazing.
Walk of Fame and Universal can be done on the same day, morning(after 9:30) head to Hollywood and then in the afternoon/evening Universal. There are plenty of dining options up at Universal. Daily Grill or Bubba Gumps are pretty good. If you find good all day parking in Hollywood, you might even want to ride the subway back %26amp; forth to Universal, a 5 min trip.
Next day head to Farmers market %26amp; The Grove, then an early afternoon tour up at WB. 11am to 1pm traffic shouldn%26#39;t be too bad to get up to Burbank. You might try to snag some tickets to Jay Leno at NBC that night, he%26#39;s right around the corner from WB. You%26#39;d need a noontime tour so that you could then grab a quick bite and head to Leno around 3pm. Try tvtix.com about 2wks before your trip.
You%26#39;ll probably want to have dinner in Burbank and wait until 8pm to head back to your hotel, to avoid traffic. Olive%26#39;s Bistro in the Annabelle HOtel, not far from NBC would be perfect, or there is Acapulco Mexican right across the street from NBC.
I would also say to at least spent a day by the beach. Santa Monica is a nice place to stroll around and have a nice dinner aswell.
Universal/Hollywood can be done in a day. Instead of eating at a chainrestaurant on Citywalk(i know they are not bad), I would opt for a more ';Hollywood'; option and maybe have dinner after Universal at Micelis which is italien and not sushi, but a old school Hollywood restaurant that you might would enjoy
Thanks tracys2cents and Alex,
Think I may try and combine your ideas. Like the idea of driving around BH looking at the houses on our first afternoon.
I%26#39;d prefer to do Universal first thing in the morning and then head over to The Walk of Fame later that afternoon? Is this feasible? Then dine at Miceli%26#39;s, if it%26#39;s nearby?
Think on the 3d day, we will head to the Farmer%26#39;s Market, then do a WB tour and perhaps spend the afternoon in SM and dine there in the evening?
Are there any flaws in my plans?
Hadn%26#39;t considered traffic issues so thanks for the warning.

We are doing the same trip on Feb 13th to 16th, and I was wondering if it would be too cool to hang out by the beach in Santa Monica. What able Malibu for dinner, will it be cool also?
We are trying to get tickets to the Ellen Degeneres show. what studio do they tape the show at? I%26#39;d like to include a studio tour if we can.
Are the %26#39;tours of the stars homes%26#39; really worth it, or are they touristy.
We are staying in Century City, which I was told is close the Beverley Hills. I%26#39;m trying to make the most of the short time we have.
Micelis is right off Hollywood Blvd, about two blocks east of Hollywood/Highland
Brewster, Try Moonshadows in Malibu for dinner or even better during sunset time, it is right on the beach and the food is excellent!(Try to get a seat on there patio)
Ellen tapes at Nbc studios but there tour is really nothing to write home about
Star Homes tour in my opinion is a waste of time and money as you do not actually see the homes, maybe a gate or driveway. But it takes you thru the beautiful hills of Bel Air and Beverlyt Hills which you could actually do yourself (Or get a starmap either outside Hollywood/Highland or on Sunset Blvd for $5 and guide yourself)
Hi everyone,
Still dithering over my itinerary and the best way to fit in everything we want to see with the limited time we have.
Does anyone know of a good website that has LA maps with most of the popular tourist attractions on them? Would help me to see if I%26#39;m back-tracking at all.
Thanks,
Kaz
