Hello,
I%26#39;ve got a 2 bedroom suite booked at Resort at Squaw creek for a few days next month. From my understanding, the place is ski in/ski out. I booked for the convenience factor because my husband and his friends ski/snowboard, but I don%26#39;t. Would this resort be convenient enough for them to go out in the morning for a few hours, come back for a quick lunch, then go right back out in the afternoons/evenings?
I figured if we stayed at a ski in/ski out place, and I wanted to try to do some snowboarding- if I got sick of it and hated it, I could just easily say ';forget it'; and head back inside for the day if I wanted to. Where as if we stayed somewhere further away (but CHEAPER!), I might go and try to do some boarding and get sick of it quickly and feel like I am stuck there until the guys decide they%26#39;re ready to come home. Or else spend part of my day playing chauffeur ;)
Through Interval International, I%26#39;m seeing some really good deals in Sparks, NV, and a couple other nearby places. They%26#39;re much cheaper but I just am not sure if the convenience is worth all the extra money- I%26#39;ve never been so I was unsure just *how* convenient it is.
Thank you for any help!
Resort at Squaw Creek question
Wow Sparks is really far from Squaw Valley. If you don%26#39;t like boarding you%26#39;d probably not go back to Sparks and then come back later for the guys.
At the resort you are on the east end of the mountian. To get an idea of where you would be here%26#39;s a link to the map of the runs:

Click on the first red square to get the area you will be staying near. The runs are mostly blue squares in this area.
Resort at Squaw Creek question
woo thanks.
stuff i read from the sparks resort site said it was 30 mins. away. which isn%26#39;t horrible but isn%26#39;t something i want to do back and forth all day either!
30 minutes on a good day. I think they are fudging a bit. Sparks to Olymipc Valley (Squaw Valley) is over 45 miles on a map.
Resort at Squaw Creek is really beautiful. There will be plenty for you to do without skiing. We loved the dog sled ride. You need to make reservations really far in advance . It was one of the most fun things I have done in my life.
Please, please do not stay in Sparks! It%26#39;s very inconvenient. It%26#39;s at least 45 minutes away from Squaw. That%26#39;s with clear roads and normal traffic.
Interval has a couple of awful options in Sparks. If they offer you the Thunderbird Lodge, just say ';no!'; Interval used to offer Squaw Valley Lodge and the Olympic Village Inn. SVL is very nice, OVI is ok. Both are substantially better than anything in Sparks.
You previously mentioned Red Wolf Lodge, which is a fine choice. If it saves you money over the R@SC, I would book that.
