Hi, my fiance and i plan to drive from LA to San Fransisco. We have four days for the drive and plan to stay in San Fransisco for two nights. Can anyone please suggest what is a %26#39; must see and do%26#39; that can be acheived in these four days ? Thanks
Driving from LA to San FransiscoDeffinatly take the #1 highway along the beach., It takes longer than the 5 fwy but it is so worth it. You can stop at Big Sur, Carmel and plenty of beach towns along the way
Driving from LA to San FransiscoAgree with Alex. Carmel is one of the loveliest towns. And don%26#39;t miss Hearst Castle.
';Must see'; and ';must do'; depend on your interests.
You will find Driving Directions at http://geocities.com/touringsfo/
I recommend the first night in Santa Barbara, the second in San Luis Obispo, the third in Carmel/Pacific Grove/Monterey. There, eat at Monterey%26#39;s Fish House as I did, again, last Thursday.
I%26#39;m in Anaheim and will go home via Highway 101, dining and dancing at the Madonna Inn in San Luis Obispo Monday hence.
I came down via the Cabrillo Highway (1). I had the misfortune of foggy weather. I hope you have better luck.
My two cents is spend two days driving and four nights in San Francisco.
Spend the first night in Santa Barbara and the next night in Monterey.
If you can give us more of an idea what interests you, wineries, historic sites, casinos, shopping, etc. we can come up with ideas for ';don%26#39;t miss'; easier.
Hello All.
I am planning a road trip from LA to San Francisco with my wife and my 1.5 year daughter. We are comming from Mexico to LA on a Saturday and will go back from LA to Mexico on the following sunday (7days). we are interested in see as much as we can of 1) LA (mostly hollywod maybe Disneyland? 2) Wineries, 3) San Francisco (i have heard it is very beautiful), 4) Towns in the road from LA To SF and (6) anything else you might recommend. I was wondering if you could give me tips about:
1)good hotels in LA, Sf and along the road maybe?
2) Route to take Freeway or bech road?
3) Anyhting you might recommend is welcome.
Thanks a lot.
I dont know if you guys have done this but do a search on this Forum ';LA to San Francisco'; and ';San Francisco to LA'; and you will find lots of suggestions as it has been widely discussed in the past.
Have fun.
I agree with the other people who responded to your post. There are some places that you may want to add to your visit.
Los Olivos is north of Santa Barbara, surrounded by wineries. Nearby is Solvang, which is a but touristy for my taste so I would not recommend it.
You will have time to visit San Luis Obispo (a university town with a historic mission), Pismo Beach, and Cambria (another town with wine shops and galleries and a good used book store). It is only a short distance from San Simeon (Hearst Castle). From there, you can drive the winding road through Big Sur and reach Monterrey/Carmel.
These are places I would recommend along the way. Four days will be enough to do it all comfortably. In addition to that, I simply recommend being serendipitous.
juanftoro - you bumped an old thread and your new question will probably be lost. Best to start a new thread with your questions, because people are responding to the first question, mostly.
Regarding the drive, take Highway 1 - stop in Carmel, Cambria, Santa Barbara. For LA, tell us your budget in your new post.
