San Fransico

I am planning a day trip to San Fransico and would like to know if there is transportation from the airport to the Fishermans Wharf and how we can ride the trolleys this would probably be enough for the day we are taking the first flight out and the last flight back. Thanks again for your suggestions. Debbie

I didn%26#39;t mean trolleys I meant the cable cars :). Debbie

So if I understand your post correctly, you are flying in from LA or OC to spend one day in SF, then heading back to the same airport that night- so there will be no luggage or anything to deal with, right?

Then what you want to do is take BART from the airport to the Powell St. station in downtown SF. When you get out at Powell st. you will be right in front of the cable car entrance. (You will also pass the visitor information center, if you get there after it opens...this could be a useful stop for some info, etc.)

At any rate, you can catch the cable car there and ride it into Fisherman%26#39;s Wharf. There are 2 lines- the Hyde St. one will take you to Aquatic Park and Ghirardelli Sq., as well as past the famous Crookedest St. The other is a little less scenic but will take you directly to Fishermans%26#39; Wharf. However, I%26#39;d still rec. the first one, as it%26#39;s still a very easy walk from Ghirardelli Sq. to the wharf/ Pier 39 area.

You may also want to look into getting reservations for an Alcatraz tour. Another idea would be to get a hop on/ hop off tour of the city for the day, so you can see the Golden Gate BRidge and other highlights of the city.
