Who knows where to hear live music in Santa Barbara or Montecito. Preferably mellow acoustic guitar or piano.
Santa Barbara Live music
As for live music, it really depends on the music you like to listen to:
SoHo, is probably Santa Barbara%26#39;s most famous live music spot. You can see a variety of music there and its a great venue. See SoHo%26#39;s website as there is a different show almost every night. (www.sohosb.com)
The James Joyce, on State Street has live Rock %26amp; Roll on Wednesday night, live Jazz on Friday night, live dixie jazz on saturday and my personal favorite live Irish music on Sunday night. This is a great bar with peanut shells on the floor so no worries about ties and jackets here. (www.thejamesjoyce.com)
The Velvet Jones usually has a broad spectrum of live performances. But its more of the young kids music, everything from heavy metal to rap. (www.velvet-jones.com)
Also just a thought, but 15 minutes drive south on the 101 freeway is Smoking Jacks in Carpenteria (a BBQ resturant) that has live Jazz and Blues on the weekends. (www.smokinjacks.com) Check with them ahead of time because I have shown up just to find that there is no band playing that day.
One thing you must do is pick up an Independent. Its our weekly paper here in Santa Barbara and its free. You can find them in just about any restuarant or newstand in town. The Independent has ALL the live music listings for a particular week.
