Downtown hotels

I have been told this is one of the best places to stay, can you recomend a hotel in this area we have a budget of 拢80-100 a night.

Downtown hotels

If I have done the conversion math correctly ,the price in pounds would translate to $160-$200. Tell me the dates of your tripand WHO is in your group,as prices change. In general the less expensive hotels downtown are the Sofia, and Horton Grand,(no pool)You might also try the BestWestern Bayview(pool)

Depending on who is in your group the nearby neighborhood of Little Italy may serve you well and be less expensive. There you can try the Porto Vista,Little Italy Inn.

there ar eother hotels but I need more info from you.

Downtown hotels

It is me and my boyfriend we are staying for 4 nights in september. We want to be in a nice area with plenty of things within walking distance, ie the beach, attractions and nice restaurants to walk to at night. hope this helps.

There is no beach downtown. The downtown area faces SanDiego Bay so there are water views but no beach. The closest beach is across the bay by passenger ferry and then about a 10block walk. OR you could use our hop on hop off tour .See:www.trolleytours.com

Downtown has lots of restaurants, bars, music venues etc.See:www.gaslamp.org

The area I mentioned ,of Little Italy ,is just north of the main downtown area and also has wine bars, a real pub, restaurants, and a music venue called Anthology.

It is on our lightrail(electric train)which strangely enough we also call a trolley so you could get downtown easily in about 10min.

The next neighborhood north of Little Italy is our OldTown Park area which is also on the lightrail line and has lots of restaurants with a Mexican feel(+others) an dbars but no real music venues. Here you will find motels WITH pools if that is important to you.Try the LaQUinta-oLdTown or the Hacienda Suites BUT only in a newer room(for the Hacienda) which you will find on the web site as being ';near the lobby/front desk';.

Thanks for your info, we have heard that the beaches in san diego are beautiful, how long would it take roughly to get to one from downtown?

IF you drove or took a taxi it would take only about 10min BUT by bus or ferry obviously longer perhaps 1/2 hour or more. The ferry only runs every hour and then it is about a 15min ride across the bay and then a walk. There are other beaches as well but I think the bus ride with stops would be at least 30min. IF the beach is very important to you ,then you could stay near the beach but then getting around to the other sights would be more difficult. Sadly,California is really the home of the auto so not tons of public transport.

Can you recommend any modern hotels then for our budget in downtown?

Thankyou for the beach info, since we are only there 4 days we would probably take a taxi as it would be quicker.

As the other poster mentioned, it%26#39;s a little inconvenient getting to the beach, but by all means stay downtown. It%26#39;s a blast, and almost everything is in walking distance. For your beach outing, enjoy the ferry ride over to Coronado, then walk or take a taxi to the beach area near the Hotel del Coronado (worth visiting). Nearby is a neat pub and ';home'; to the Nay Seals, Mc T%26#39;s, or you can have a lovely lunch or dinner near the ferry landing before taking it back over.

We stayed at the Sheraton Suites (Symphony Hall),downtown, just a few weeks ago. It%26#39;s lovely and was within your budget. The best deal was on their site at special deals or speical offers, something like that. Our room lacked a view, while our friend%26#39;s rooms were more scenic. I%26#39;d ask when I checked in. Good luck! The Gaslamp District at night is where you want to be.

Thankyou for your help, very informative will look at that hotel. Thanks again.

The Sheraton Suites is nice, but a little up from the Gaslamp. Look at the Ramada Downtown, the Courtyard, the Horton Grand, Residence Inn and as Riffsmom mentioned, the Sophia, the Bristol %26amp; the Best Western Bayside.

There is also La Pensione in Little Italy.

Thankyou i will check out all those hotels, it is so difficult to find hotels at the right price and in the right area!

thanks
