Restaurants no longer open

Just a note to inform any readers that 3 of the restaurants listed are no longer open. The Blue Parrott closed it%26#39;s doors 2 years ago. The Channel house and Flips Sushi both closed their door for good in Dec. of 2007. Hope this helps anyone planning on visiting.

Restaurants no longer open

Cafe Prego also closed a few years ago, our favorite place in Avalon.

Restaurants no longer open

I had just refered to the restaurants that were rated by T. A.. I have a block in my mind about mentioning the Cafe Prego. I moved to Avalon in 1976 to help open the Prego. I recall when I heard that they were closeing I was devistated. I grew up with the MacMillian / Moran family in Orange County, and thank them for including me in there venture in Avalon. I left their employee some 29 years ago but still stay close with the family. To Rod, Millie, Tommy,Billie, Cathy, Mike, Mike, and the rest of the family THANK YOU. RIP CAFE PREGO.

Surprising to hear about Flip%26#39;s. I thought that was still quite popular with the locals who liked to go there and jam. I think the tourists never really discovered it.

And the Channel House, they never were able to figure it out, were they? Talk about a great location gone to waste. Oh well, Jack Tucey will pounce on it and open another of his restaurants.

Billfish-I know that the Blue Parrott is now Hotel Metropole rooms, but what are the plans for Flips and the Channel house?

The owner of the Channel house decided not to renew their lease because of the conditions that the landlord placed on the lease. The landlord is taking over the restaurant and will be operating it in some form. Flips was purchased By Caleb Lins. He is the owner operator of Avalon Seafood. He%26#39;s planing on opening within the next couple of weeks. He has been working hard to get open. remodel includes hardwood floors and a nice bright feel inside. Will be serving seafood and steak, they will be offering to prepare your fresh catch as well as have a full selection of seafood items on themenu. He is also planning on keeping live entertainment. Looking forward to seeing Kalebs new place. Not quite sure what to expect from the new Channel House.
