Unfortunately we had to cancel our Christmas holiday in SD due to illness. We were due to stay at Paradise Point. Now trying to rebook for summer holiday. I am a bit worried about all the reviews for Paradise Point - saying ';tired, dated rooms'; etc.
Can anyone suggest somewhere else - family of 3 children 15, 7 and 5yrs. We will have a car and would like to be by the beach. Would like modern, well maintained hotel with very good facilities. Any suggestions?
july/aug where to stay?
Usually people complain about having to drive everywhere at Paradise POint. The grounds are lovely and the rooms are average but the first 8reviews I read didn%26#39;t mention ';tired and old'; so I am not sure which reviews are bothering you.
Our beach hotels are all rather old. Pacific Terrace is the newest/most modern directly on a beach BUT besides a pool ,I am not sure that it offers any other facilities.
The Hotel Del Coronado is an historic hotel BUT it has very nice new villas that would be perfect for a family. They are extremely expensive!! It is located on a fabulous beach, has a great pool, several restaurants,a spa for massage etc and a children%26#39;s program.
The Lodge at Torrey Pines is also fairly new9couple of years onld0,built in the California craftsman architectural style BUT it is not directly on a beach. In summer it has cabanas on a nearby beach. It also has pool ,restaurant, an dspa (massage) facilities.
The 4 Season Aviara Resort is about 40min north of downtown SanDiego in the town of Carlsbad. it is also not directly on a beach but is a lovely modern hotel with,golf,pool,children%26#39; activities etc.and a short drive to a beach.
There are a few hotels directly on the beach BUT none are modern.
