visiting SD next month

I%26#39;ll be visiting SD during Easter weekend and have the following questions:

1) I will be staying at the Omni, where is the closest Catholic church within walking distance?

2) What is the best time of the day to visit La Jolla Cove? We have a 6 years old so difinitely he doesn%26#39;t want to miss the seals %26amp; sea lions.

I think a good time to visit the cove would be towards afternoon as sometimes earlier in the day they feed in the ocean. I have not really thought about timing before so perhaps others have more specific scientific info about this.
