I am planning a trip to Laguna Beach in april with my 16 year old daughter, is there enough to keep us busy with the beach half/most of the day. We also want to see Santa Ana and LA, is 1 week enough? How far is the drive in minutes to all those things? Which airport and airline do you recommend. Any good walk to- town hotels that are 4 starish and have a beach location and pool? Should we stay in LA for 2 nights?

You want to see Santa Ana? Huh?
How long (rather than how far) the drive is depends on what time and what day of the week you%26#39;re making the drive.
Yes, there are plenty of beach hotels, but none of them in Santa Ana. Check out the Reviews portion of this site.
I would stay in LA longer than 2 nights if Santa Ana is your alternative.
I would fly Southwest, as they will take you from Long Island to whatever LA-area airport strikes your fancy.

Why do you want to see Santa Ana? Did you mean Santa Monica?
Laguna is great for a day trip, or an overnight trip, there are many hotels on the beach, very few with pools. Do a search here for Hotels in Laguna Beach. It%26#39;s about an hour from LA. Not sure why you ask about downtown LA though, are you thinking of getting a hotel there? I wouldn%26#39;t suggest it.
In LA - Santa Monica has quite a few 4* hotels with pools that are on the beach. Look into Loews, Le Merigot. Also look into Fairmont, Oceana, Delfina.
LAX is the LA airport. I can%26#39;t help you with airlines. Use kayak.com to compare flight prices.
LA is an enormous city, there%26#39;s enough here to keep you busy for a full week. Santa Monica is a good base if you want to be on the beach, Beverly Hills is a more central base and there are many hotels to choose from, I recommend Beverly Hilton for tourists with kids. Santa Monica is about 30 minutes to Hollywood, about 15 to Beverly Hills - depends on traffic.
Why not start with some research? And a map? Please see our FAQs at the top of the LA forums to get started.
You will love Laguna Beach, we stayed 3 nights at the Casa Laguna Inn this past December and had plenty to do during our time there.
If you want a 4 star beachfront hotel with a pool, check out the Surf and Sand Resort, you can get a room starting at $275/night according to the Laguna Beach.com website. This property is gorgeous, we had lunch at Splashes one day.
Don%26#39;t miss the beach area in back of the Montage, Heisler Park is also a beautiful area to spend time in. Las Brisas would be good for lunch when you go here, it is right by the Laguna Beach Art Museum.
There are plenty of shops and art galleries to browse through in Laguna Beach and so many nice beaches. Victoria Beach was another one we enjoyed, a short walk from the Casa Laguna Inn. Have fun! :)
My friend flies out 3-4 times a year from NY to CA to visit family in SoCal. They found Jet Blue, to Long Beach, is the best, and are very happy with the service and the price.
You%26#39;ll be renting a car to get around, and in non peak traffic times, it will take a good hour to get to LA tourist things from Laguna.
