driving to San Diego - hotel Anaheim or San Diego?

How far is it from Anaheim Disney area to the San Diego Zoo %26amp; Seaworld? Miles %26amp; travel time?

Can you recommend a good beach for a day? Also driveable from Anaheim.

We are using the Southern California City Pass. 3 days in Anaheim @ Disney, 1 universal, 1 seaworld, 1 SD Zoo. Thought we%26#39;d add a day to go to Hollywood %26amp; the Grove. (How far apart is the Grove %26amp; Hollywood?) and maybe a day at a beach. Would you move to a San Diego hotel after the Disney days?

If you switched to a SD hotel......the days we go to Hollywood %26amp; the grove....would it be closer from Anaheim or San Diego?

Where would be closer: Anaheim or San Diego:

Univeral Studios

Hollywood %26amp; The Grove

Huntington Beach

Thanks !

Google Maps says 95 miles, so 1 and 1/2 hours to 2 hours depending on traffic.

I%26#39;d recommend spending your Disney/Hollywood time in Anaheim and you SD time in SD. I think it would be too much to drive back and forth.

Hi,

I answered one of your posts in the Anaheim Forum.

San Diego is closer to Anaheim than LA. If you go to maps on Goggle and put in California, you can click on the down arrow to get to Southern California then click on the plus sign to see of larger view. Start from Los Angeles and arrow down and you will see that Anaheim is to the southeast of LA/Hollywood and then San Diego is to the southwest of Anaheim. Playing with the map will help you get more informed. You can put in your destinations, one from the other, and get driving directions that show you the distance and time.

If you wanted to switch from your Anaheim hotel to San Diego, but go to Hollywood/The Grove for the day first you could do it, although it would be a lot of driving and you should start out early. The drive into San Diego should be easier than into LA, depending on the time you go. You could stop for dinner in Laguna Beach, which is beautiful. It is in Orange County, south of Anaheim. Main Beach in Laguna has a nice coffee shop type restaurant right next to the beach with a deck sort of overlooking the ocean. It make a nice stop.

If you decide to split your stay between Anaheim and SD and want to do that LA trip in the day, just make sure you let your SD hotel know that you may be checking in later than their check in time. (Just in case.)

If you stay downtown near the San Diego Bay, ask for a bayview room and you should have a nice view. Recommended hotels in that area include the Holiday Inn On the Bay (San Diego Bay) and the Embassy Suites On the San Diego Bay. Both charge pretty high parking fees. Embassy Suites has a complimentary free fully cooked breakfast for each person every day of your stay, which offsets the amount you are putting out for parking. Embassy is across from Seaport Village. Holiday Inn is across for the Maritime Museums.

Coronado, which is a 10 min. drive across a bridge from downtown San Diego, has beautiful beaches. The historic Hotel Del Coronado is a nice place to visit there and there is a deep public beach there.

I know you want to go to Huntington. I don%26#39;t want to mix you up, but I would actually recommend Laguna and Coronado instead.

Be aware that in June we may be experiencing ';June Gloom'; along the coast. This means that occasionally overcast skies don%26#39;t clear until noon.

Some of the hotels in Mission Valley and Old Town are more affordable than downtown along the San Diego Bay and if you have a car the drive time and traffic is good from there to downtown and other tourist destinations in SD.

Hope this helps and didn%26#39;t confuse you more.
