San Francisco to Seattle Drive Questions, Again! Sorry!

Hello,

We are traveling to San Francisco and driving to Seattle in May, I know it would be better to do it the other way but for various reasons this worked better for the flights.

We have the following, after some great answers to a previous question, as an outline itinerary.

14th San Francisco

15th San Francisco

16th Fort Bragg

17th Eureka

18th Crescent City

19th Bandon

20th

21st

22nd

23rd

24th

25th Seattle

26th Seattle

27th Home

We want to spend 2 nights in Portland, so am thinking the nights of 20th and 21st.

Our dilemma is, do we use the days of the 23rd and 24th to visit Olympic park, or will we be missing too many things along the CA and OR coasts by doing this? I know we will not see all of Olympic park, and this could be the excuse to go back there in the future.

Our other thought is that we take an extra day in CA, possibly not go as far a Fort Bragg and then stay in Garberville, and stay somewhere like Florence before Portland or Seaside or somewhere further up the coast before Seattle.

We are not going to Crater Lake, I had an email from the park indicating we would not see too much because of the snow.

San Francisco has to be 2 nights as we have friends there and are looking forward to seeing them. We also watched a TV show about Portland and it looks a place we would enjoy, so want 2 nights there.

We don鈥檛 want to spend all the time in the car, we hope to see some Elk, see the seals in Newport and if I could see a wild porcupine, that would make the trip, long story but I think they are great! A mixture of wildlife, natural wonders and great food and drink is our ideal.

I am also aware that our 2nd week is around Memorial Day so we need to book hotels reasonably quickly.

Also, to everybody who answered my question before Christmas, I apologize if it looks like I have ignored some of your suggestions, we honestly have not, and it has been used as our template.

I thank everybody who responds.

Mick

Well, here%26#39;s what I would do.

16th: Drive San Francisco to Garberville.

17th: Drive through Humboldt Redwoods SP. Avenue of the Giants. See a drivethru tree. Take 211 from

South Fork and visit this part of the SP as well, often overlooked. Great drive along the Lost Coast then to Ferndale and to Eureka.

18th. Redwood NP and into Oregon

19/20th. On your way to Portland. We took the eastern itinerary and eventually ended in Cannon Beach. So can%26#39;t tell you much about the coastal drive but we know it%26#39;s gorgeous.

21th. Portland. Don%26#39;t miss Multnomah Falls east of Portland.

22nd: Drive Portland to Mnt. St. Helens (must see but only on a clear day). Then drive to Olympic NP.

23rd: Olympic NP

24th: Olympic NP

25th: Seattle.

Maybe consider to stay 2 days in Portland. If you want to see a bit of the great Olympic NP, 2 days will be short.

Ok, bump and maybe probably locals will correct me. We did our visits in september some years ago so I can%26#39;t judge for may. BTW even in september we had snow at Crater Lake!
