Recommend a seaside restaurant in San Diego

Its 25 degrees here in Boston with snow expected. My thoughts turn to our upcoming California vacation and visions of a seaside grille. Can anyone recommend a wonderful seaside restaurant in San Diego not too far from the Gaslamp district. Give me something to dream about....

Anthony%26#39;s is right on the harbor and is only about a 5 minute drive from the Gaslamp district.

The Fish Market, and their more up-scale Top of the Market are within an easy walk from the Gaslamp.

Ride the ferry or water taxi to Coronado for dinner at Il Fornaio, or Peohe%26#39;s (up-scale)

Short drive around the bay to Harbor Island for an amazing view at Island Prime, or their less expensive lounge, C-Level.

IMHO, the BEST views of San Diego are from Island Prime or C-Level.

Personally I like Fish Market, but don%26#39;t expect Boston style seafood. Be sure to order something fresh and from the Pacific Ocean. See tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g60750-d48…

Island Prime is a great restaurant. The views of downtown are spectacular.

And, not much in the way of food here - but really a must-do.

The 40th floor of the Hyatt has the lounge called Top of the Hyatt. Amazing views

If you go to Coronado, 1500 Ocean and the Sheerwater are the restaurants at the Del, the Hotel Del Coronado is located right on the beach, check out their website for something to dream about! Enjoy San Diego! :)

Anthony%26#39;s isn%26#39;t among the top ten seafood restaurants in SD. Look at the Fish Market and the more upscale Top of the Market upstairs. Oceanaire in the Gaslamp is probably the best seafood place in SD. There is also Blue Point.

I guess restaurant recs are very subjective. We went to the Fish Market located in DelMar when we first arrived in SanDiego many years ago and were very dissapointed. It was so noisy we couldn%26#39;t have our own conversation and the food was not particularly special. Now the one downtown has a pretty location on the bay BUT I am not sure the food is anything better than the original. I guess we%26#39;ll have to break down and try it.

Anthony%26#39;s has been around a very long time so it is not trendy but their red fish chowder is just fantastic!

Our favorite fish place has NO view, just great food, The Fishery in Pacific Beach.FRESH and delicious.

What a lovely post.

I love all the suggestions. Most are along the bay since you asked for something not too far from the Gaslamp Distict. I have another suggestion there. Edgwater Grill in Seaport Village. Outside tables offer a view of the bay and sailboats, with bognevilla growing along the columns. Good for watching people walking by as they enjoy the day.

The Fish Market is very much like a ';seaside'; restaurant and it gets breezy there since it sits right next to the water on San Diego Bay.

The restaurants mentioned at the Hotel Del Coronado are truly seaside, though. Take a look at the Del%26#39;s website. You may also want to daydream about having drinks on the patio of the Babcock and Story Lounge at the Del enjoying great view of the ocean with soft guitar playing. Imagine palm trees swaying as the sun gently sets in a colorful sky.

Oh yes, I am swaying, swaying in the ocean breezes even as my keister freezes. Thanks for the daydream material my friends. Can%26#39;t wait to try out your wonderful suggestions.
