Stopover in SF - Where to stay?

I am visiting SF for 3 nights in June and would love any suggestions on where to stay and what to do!

Specifically, I would like to know what areas/suburbs are good to stay in so that I can get around w/ public transport.

I have a huge list of TO DO there but I%26#39;ll need to be able to get around easily.

Many thanks!

You really need to be in the Union Square area. You do NOT want to stay in a suburb. Union Square has access to all of the forms of excellent public transportation in the city.

If you can give us a budget on how much you plan to spend on lodging people here can help you find a suitable hotel.

Thanks for that!

I would ideally like something cheap as I%26#39;m just staying by myself and don%26#39;t need anything too fussy! I need my own bathroom and if it had an internet connection and pool too, that would be fab! I am looking for something below $150 per night.

First of all, try to get reservations NOW at the Chancellor. This would be perfect for you. On Union Square, access to all of the different kinds of public transportation, a fantastic friendly and knowledgeable staff and management with an information desk which will help you with any questions you have.

There is a small bar and a ditto restaurant for breakfast (they may serve dinner, I am not sure)

This is an historic boutique hotel with rather small, but not really, rooms which were refurbished just last year and are really classy.

Its rates are very reasonable but everybody loves it, so reserve early.

I don%26#39;t know if I%26#39;ll ever get over the idea that $150/night is considered cheap. I remember the days when you could get a decent hotel room at Motel 6 for $6/night.

Definitely Union Square for proximity to dining, shopping, and entertainment, plus lots of public transportation between the cable cars and buses! Hope that helps!
