Hotel Kabuki vs. Orchard

I booked Orchard Garden originally but got a great rate (149) for the Kabuki and thought Japantown sounded fun but today I could book a ';dbl dbl deluxe'; pre-paid at the Orchard(not orchard garden) for the same price. We are a mom %26amp; daughter (adult)and have never been to SF. We will not have a car and want to be within walking distance(safe) for dinners, shopping would be a plus but not a requirement. Any opinions?

I know that my wife and I after lots of research decided upon the Orchard for our 5 days at the start of our N California holiday :)

Good location, great price, good reviews, we will e there 17-21 May, see you in the bar for a drink :D

Orchard, no question. Visit Japantown, but stay in Union Square area, especially if you want to be near a lot of restaurants and shopping.
