Hi

Family of four have twonights in L.A and will see Universal Studios and maybe dinner in West Hollywood or Beverly Hills. Where would you receommend we stay?

Renaissance Hollywood or Best Western Sunset Plaza or Universal Hilton

Agree with either the best western or renaissance in hollywood. The Universal one, which is nice, really is only convinient for visiting the theme park, but it is isolated from the rest of the city, way up on a hill while the other two hotels mentioned are right smack in the middle of a vibrant neighbourhood where you can walk around at night, go for some drinks at happening bars or grab some good food before getting some rest from your long day exploring the city

What is your price range? Renaissance and Best Western are in completely different quality levels, $300+ vs $150 rooms.

I would recommend to get a suite in your case. Chamberlain West Hollywood is next to Sunset Strip and is a great all-suite hotel. How much you can afford matters though. This is around $300. There is a special at a new boutique hotel in the same are for $199 (reg $350) on travelzoo.com too.
