OK. something must be going on.
As some of you know we have season theater tickets and spend the night in the city 8 weekends a year. For hotels we enjoy the Donatello, the JW Marriott, the Chancellor, the King George, the Andrews, the Cartwright...depending upon whether we can get a parking package and what the rates are at the time. (I know this is a wide range of types of accommodations, but that%26#39;s OK, we are comfortable with all of them.) You notice that they are all in the Union Square area.
Our last ACT play is June 7.
I have been online for the past two hours trying to find a hotel room. I even thought that perhaps if we said we would stay two nights we could get one. No dice. Well, some of the lesser properties had vacancies at over $350. You couldn%26#39;t believe the prices at the Villa Florence. And I am ';local'; enough to know that these are OUTRAGEOUS
FINALLY, the Wharf Inn on Mason, one block from Beach has ONE room. I grabbed it. $145, free parking.
I can%26#39;t find any reviews of this place except for a few which says it is ';noisy';. Any feedback?
We never stay in the Fisherman%26#39;s Wharf area and it might be a lark, and there are places to walk to dinner, etc.
Do you recommend Scoma%26#39;s? Will we need a reservation?
Any feedback extremely welcome. I feel like a ';fish out of my water';.
Thanks.
San Francisco weekend of June 7
PS....yes I know about the Lombard corridor and etc. Not interested in that location, or anywhere else, for that matter unless we can either be in Union Square or by the Embarcadero or FW for walking and enjoying.
San Francisco weekend of June 7
I had difficulty shopping for hotel rooms for that weekend as well back in March. We are coming to SF from the 5th of June through the 11th. We found one place that had all of the days needed except that Saturday. The hotel mgr said that Europeans are travelling a lot more to San Francisco due to the week dollar and that they are coming earlier. Finally did book a room at the Columbus Inn for the length of stay we needed. Other available rooms were just so outrageous! I am glad at least you have found a room, but I dont have any review of the hotel to offer you. Maybe we will see you there.
