Residence Inn SD Central, Mission Valley or Bay Club?

Hi, we will be staying in SD in July - 3 adults %26amp; one teen. We have a car and would all like to share one room either at Residence Inn SD Central, Residence Inn SD Mission Valley or Bay Club %26amp; Marina. Any idea why the RISD Central is more expensive than the RISD Mission Valley (52 USD per night!)? Understand they are both 3 star and Misson V is more touristy, correct? Basically we are looking for good, clean and not too expensive accomodation with pool - not next to beach as that is way over our budget! Any suggestions? Thanks very much!

It is possible that the type of room is different at the 2 RIs as they have various room types with different charges. Also Mission Valley has many hotels competing for business and so is often an inexpensive place to stay. I wonder what prices you are comparing?

The Bay Club is in the prettiest location near San Diego Bay and the yacht harbor.

Riffsmom, thanks for the info re competition, could be possible! I checked twice and MV offers: one bedroom suite 1king 1 sofabed kitchen living area hot breekafast daily * 10usd parking nightly.

Central offers: Studio, 1 queen with 1 sofabed, free breakfast free high speed, free parking

What%26#39;s the big difference?

It is quite interesting to me.

First of all one charges for parking and one has free parking. I don%26#39;t know if that extra $50 was per night or for your whole stay. If it was for your whole stay then the $10 per night parking fee will make that difference less.

It is the room difference that I find interesting as the words ';1 bedroom suite'; implies a separate bedroom with a door separating it from the livingroom sitting area.

The word ';studio'; implies one large room with a bedroom area and a sitting area BUT with no door.

I can%26#39;t imagine why the RI Central would be more expensive. It is in Kearny Mesa, which is an industrial/business area.

We used to stay there when it was the ONLY RI in San Diego but haven%26#39;t since the others have been built.

And riffsmom is correct - after reading the MV website it certainly sounds as if the one-bedroom suite has a separate bedroom - it says ';sleeps up to 6';

Mission Valley would be a very quick drive to beaches, Sea World, Balboa Park and the Zoo. RI Central would be a longer drive with our commuter traffic.
