Familiy holiday

We are planning to get together with family from Europe and New Zealand (7 adults and 5 kids under 10)for about a week and thought California might be a good meeting point. Any suggestions for a nice location and affordable accommodation?

Hello and welcome to the travel forums! With a group that large you may want to consider renting a home or condo. The Monterey/Carmel area is very pretty. The Central Coast is also very scenic with Cambria, Pismo, Morro Bay as destination options. www.centralcoast.com is a nice website for this area. :)

Do you want a beach vacation, a lake or mountain vacation, a state park camping vacation, an amusement-park and shopping vacation, or a little of everything????

Thanks for the suggestions so far. We%26#39;d want a bit of everything I guess but mainly beach - and a mixture of self-catering and eating out as well.

I think it would be important to know whattime of year you are planning this vacation. What would you consider to eb affordable? Is there a price range?

California is very large and very diverse with a lot to offer. We really need a bit more information about when you are traveling and what you hope to see while you are here. Without any information from you - I would suggest possibly San Diego. It is a nice mix of beaches, museums, parks - Sea World, San Diego Zoo, Legoland and Wild Animal Kingdom is nearby.
