Coronado Parks

Does anyone know much about the SDG%26amp;E park and/or Centennial Park in Coronado? Is there decent shade? Facilities? I%26#39;m trying to figure out if these are a decent place to hang out and watch the Red Bull Air Races for free this weekend.

Coronado Parks

I think those parks are the strip of greenbelt, waterfront sidewalk and beach between 1st St and the Bay that starts by the Ferry Landing, Peohe%26#39;s, and that small shopping area of shops in the same area.

It%26#39;s a nice area with great views of downtown. They used to have free summer concerts there before moving to Spreckels. There is a public restroom, rose garden, and benches in the area. Restaurants, fastfood )burger king), ice cream and small gift shops at the Landing. Not sure about shade. I know there are a few trees in the green space between the Landing shops, but probably too far back for a good view. You could bring a beach chair and umbrella. Lots of people brought those (and a cooler) for the concerts. Parking lot at the Landing is usually full on a regular weekend so get there early for street parking. Looks like fun!

Coronado Parks

SDGE park is where E Avenue ends at First Street. It is a narrow park (about a residential lot). It has trees/shade.

Centennial Park is where Orange Avenue ends at First Street (the old ferry landing-- not the ';Ferry Landing'; stores). No trees or shade to speak of.

I%26#39;ve never noticed facilities at either one.

There%26#39;s another skinny little park further up First, I think at about I. My recollection is that it is even shadier than SDGE.

Thanks to both of you. These sound like viable options to save us $30 bucks each to watch from the San Diego side of the bay--yikes!

Yikes is right! Please post back and let us know if your viewing spot worked out and if you liked the event. Haven%26#39;t been and would like to know if it was interesting/entertaining. Also if crowded or a traffic nightmare. Thanks.
