We will be in Sonoma in May and are new at wine tasting. What is the average cost of tasting and where if any are there free ones?
Thanks,
Sunny
wine tasting costs?
There are not so many free wineries anymore:
Stop in at the Sonoma Visitors Center to pick up a sticker that says I love Sonoma. Many wineries offer free or reduced tasting for those with the sticker. Also many Inns have passes for free or reduced tastings. If you are staying overnight inthe area check with the front desk.

Here%26#39;s the visitor%26#39;s bureau site that lists details about many wineries:

wine tasting costs?
Most are around ten dollars, but some have several different ';tasting menus'; - one for their lower priced selections (might be $5) and one for higher priced menus. It is OK for 2 people to share 1 tasting. Cheers!
If you decide to buy a bottle a lot of wineries will deduct the cost of the tasting off of a newly purchased bottle. It%26#39;s a nice touch.
I was there last October, I think Arista Winery was no charge %26amp; we enjoyed their wines. This one was the only free one that we liked, all the rest we did not care for. We purchased lots of wines and the tasting charge was never deducted from the purchase. If you enjoy wines, make sure you take lots of $ for the purchases! Most bottles are $40+, the only one I enjoyed that was at a reasonable price was from Sebastiani. I did love our trip and will do it all over again! Enjoy....
