San Francisco Giants vs. New York Mets or vs San Diego Padre

Hello

It seems that we could see a baseball game in AT%26amp;T park during our next stay in SF,

For our 1st baseball game viewing, which one could be the most representative : the Giant%26#39;s vs the Mets in the evening or the Giant%26#39;s vs SD Padre in the afternoon?

And as it is our 1st time, which kind of seating (not too expensive, 20/25 $ max) could we book as we especially want to see what is ';around'; the game itself (we don%26#39;t know the rules and are not sure to understand who does what on the field)?

thanks for your advice !

I don%26#39;t think it really matters whether you see the Mets or the Padres. I personally prefer day games, because the night games can get pretty cold.

For an idea of seat locations and ticket prices, go to...

thanks for your advice and for the link (I didn%26#39;t find it yesterday),

We will be in SF the 3 first days of june, do you think that even at this period the night can be cold ?

I saw that the lower rate is not the same between night and day, do you know why ? is it due to something like wind coming from the bay at night or because sun can hurt the eyes during the day?

Regarding the atmosphere during or after the game, is there any risk of fights between people?

BTW, how long does a game last ? If we go at night, is there still public transportation (for union square) once the game is over ?

Go to the Sunday, June 1 game against the Padres. It would be warmer than a night game yet it could be cool. June has a reputation for having quite a bit of fog along the coast.

Get a seat in the View Reserved level from section 310 to 324 for outstanding views of the harbor long with the game. You do not need to sit close to the field for your first experience.

No problems with fights on a Sunday afternoon.

I didn%26#39;t have an answer, but asked my husband the ';baseball expert'; . This is what he said:

Giants %26amp; Padres are both California teams and it will be a fun game to see, but generally speaking, when the Giants play any NY team it is a much larger draw (larger crowds more fun) and he would advise the Giants/Met game.

Interesting question about ';fights between people';.

As far as I know we don%26#39;t fight over baseball games. Never saw a fight. Not like soccer in Europe.

I think the Mets are a better ballclub than the Padres, but I would opt for a day game, to experience the views and atmosphere. As to fights, they are pretty rare. The most likely chance of that, and that is pretty slim, since the Giants moved to this park, is during a LA Dodger game, given the rivalry. Sunday afternoon baseball is normally a very relaxed affair. Most games run about 3 hours, could be more or less.

%26gt;%26gt;I saw that the lower rate is not the same between night and day, do you know why ? is it due to something like wind coming from the bay at night or because sun can hurt the eyes during the day?%26lt;%26lt;

The difference in ticket prices is not based on whether a game is played during the day or night, but whether the game is played on a weekday or a weekend. Most weekend games are played during the day, while most weekday games are played at night, so if there%26#39;s a difference in ticket price between Sunday afternoon and a Tuesday night, it%26#39;s because of the weekday vs. weekend difference...not because it%26#39;s a night vs. day game.

%26gt;%26gt;BTW, how long does a game last ? If we go at night, is there still public transportation (for union square) once the game is over ?%26lt;%26lt;

Public transportation will still be running after the game, although Union Square and AT%26amp;T Park are within walking distance.

Here%26#39;s a link...

it is exactly what I was afraid of : same kind of fights as we can unfortunately see too often for soccer in Europe between supporters from each team...

so, let%26#39;s go for baseball, probably Giants vs Padres !

do you think we should buy the tickets in advance (for seats in the View Reserved level from section 310 to 324 as suggested) or is it possible to buy them the day of the match ?

And as Union Square and AT%26amp;T Park are within walking distance, then we%26#39;ll walk (thanks Simba) !

Regarding the price of the tickets, I thought that the difference was due to ';external'; conditions, such as wind or sun or...

PS : probably Giants vs Padres because it%26#39;s during the day and you are all advising a day game rather than a night game, because of weather and view and more fun... otherwise it seems that Giants vs Mets (West coast vs East cost ;-) ) would have been a perfect programm !

You might be able to get the tickets on game day but I would get them ahead of time. Whenever I travel to different stadiums (often) I always get them way in advance for both assurance of getting a specific section and assurance of geting a ticket.

If you but them on the official website you may have difficulty getting them shipped to France. I%26#39;m not quite sure which countries they ship to and which they don%26#39;t
