Best Family Ski Resort in USA?

Hi,

We intend coming over to ski in late December/early January and had basically settled on going to Heavenly at South Lake Tahoe. However having read some of the reviews about Heavenly on TA we%26#39;re not so sure now.

We are all intermediate skiers and are used to ';ski in/ski out'; resorts and using lodge style accomodation.

I%26#39;d appreciate any suggestions about alternate resorts elsewhere in CA or other states

Cheers,

JB

I am always reluctant to suggest travelers from far away go to Tahoe for a December Holiday. Often the snow is not its best until January storms. Since we are close by the disappointment in the snow during a Christmas break is soon forgotten with the snowfall in January. But if you travel a long distance and want good snow, you should think about Colorado instead.

I will recommned Mammoth Mountain though.

Suzie, what do you think about Northstar for their needs? The accommodations there are great, including the ability to ski in/out...

I think Northstar is a terrific resort. Great for skiing and boarding but not in December for a family coming from as far away as Sydney. Too risky. I say Colorado in December.

Or Utah?

I agree that it would be very disappointing to come all the way from Sydney and have no snow, and that would be a distinct possibility.

Since the Olympics, I would think that Park City, Utah, or vicinity would have some great facilities.

Look at these.

If you google...ski in ski out utah....you will get some more hits.

Thanks very much for all your suggestions.We%26#39;ll be doing some more homework
