Traveling to Yosemite

Hi there,

I am planning a trip going from Palo Alto to Yosemite. I%26#39;d like to break up the trip. Is there a nice place to stop for a day on the way to Yosemite? And what are some other places near Yosemite. I have 10 days to play with.

It is less than 5 hours from Palo Alto to Yosemite. If you want to break it up, you might look to doing that in the foothills, rich with gold history. Columbia, Sonora, Jamestown or Groveland are all good bets. www.TCVB.com is the visitors bureau website to help you decide.

I%26#39;d second HC%26#39;s recommendations for a gold country stop. We often used to visit Columbia State Historic Park and Jamestown/ Sonora on our way to Yosemite with our kids, but they are enjoyable for adults as well.

These are great suggestions thank you! I was thinking of breaking up a trip a bit. And maybe spending 3 days in and around Yosemite and then 3 days in and around Tahoe and maybe 3 days more North/South. Do you guys have any suggestions for places to stop at?
