Suggestions for restaurants in Santa Clara area?

Me and my husband are going to be in Santa Clara for a week for a conference. This is our first visit to this city, do you have any recommendations for nicer restaurants to go to? We are looking for good food and wine for some of the evenings but also the option for a more laid back style some other evenings.

If you have any other suggestions that we should check out while in this city we would appreciate it very much! Tried to look at the forum but could not find any updated stuff....

Thanks in advance from two Norwegians :o)

Suggestions for restaurants in Santa Clara area?

There are some great restaurants in the area, depending what you%26#39;re looking for. Parcel 104 in the Marriott is very good (not your average hotel restaurant). Birks is also lively and has good food. The Faultline, just off Lawrence Expressway and 101 is another good option.

Suggestions for restaurants in Santa Clara area?

We visited our daughter at Santa Clara University a few weeks ago, and took her and her friends out to dinner. They chose to go to Amber, an Indian (South Asian) restaurant at Santana Row. It was very nice---lovely decor and very good food. I don%26#39;t usually care for ';shop[ping center'; type restaurants, but Santana Row is very pleasant, built like a Mediterranean town and pleasanat to stroll around. There are a number of upscale restaurants from which to choose, as well as more casual ones.

We went back for lunch the next day at Pomodoro, and next time we%26#39;ll try the Left Bank Brasserie.

I like Consuelo%26#39;s Mexican at Santana Row and also have enjoyed 71 Saint Peter in downtown San Jose: http://www.71saintpeter.com/

71 St. Peter is a good suggestion---that was actually my personal pick, after doing some research. But the girls chose Amber, so we haven%26#39;t been there yet. Maybe next time.

Canyon Mari, your post brought back memories. My daughter graduated from Santa Clara last June (my husband and I met when we were teaching there in the early 80s). I used to love to go up and take her and her friends out. Sigh. Enjoy these years--they end too fast!

Thanks a lot for all your suggestions! ;o)
