I have gained so much information regarding our upcoming trip to San Francisco as I have lurked on these pages reading everyone%26#39;s post.
My husband and I will be spending 6 days at the Parc 55 Hotel, 55 Cyril Magnin Street. Yes, I%26#39;m sure the hotel has laundry services but being the tightwads that we are, we%26#39;d rather save a chunk of money and do it ourselves. Can you suggest a self-service Laundry near where we%26#39;re staying.
Thanks so much!
Laundry near Parc 55
plenty in the nearby tenderloin neighborhood but you really don%26#39;t want to use them as there are drug addicts, hookers, etc. scattered among the residents.
best thing would be to ask the doorman for a nearby laundry that delivers (there are plenty in the city). there are also quite a few laundromats on nob hill, which is not too far away if you want to do self-serve.

Spending 2 hours (more like 3 when you count in travel time) out of a 6 day vacation to do laundry in a laundromat seems like a lousy return on investment.
Nonetheless, if you insist Google Maps shows a Rainbow Coin Laundromat at 302 Hyde Street, some 4.5 blocks west of you straight up Eddy Street. This really ISN%26#39;T the kind of neighborhood you want to be marching through with a sack of dirty laundry. At the minimum, do your laundry during the daylight hours, and keep a pair of really funky socks at the top of the bag to brandish at some of the street freaks you might encounter.
To at least add some San Francisco flavor to your washday, you might consider BrainWash about 5-1/2 blocks (some of the long Market Street blocks) southwest of you at 1122 Folsom Street between 7th and 8th Streets). I haven%26#39;t been there in YEARS and understand it%26#39;s sort of just going through to motions now, but while your socks are going `round and `round you can get a latte, beer, sandwiches, burgers, and salad and during the evening some live music or poetry. Again not a great neighborhood to be schlepping your skivvys through. http://www.brainwash.com/
Finally you can cab it over to Seċ¸½or Burbujas, on 24th Street and York, just because it sounds so much better in Spanish than English (';Mr. Bubbles';). Philz Coffee is just a block or so away so you can get a decent cup `o joe while you%26#39;re waiting, or you can avail yourself to one of the many taquerias in the vicinity.

Go steal a grocery cart, throw your dirty laundry into it, and then walk to the laundromat...screaming at people along the way. Then it will look like you fit into the neighborhood, and nobody will bug you.
I almost always look for a laundromat if I%26#39;m traveling for more than a week. Hotel laundry services are way too expensive, and washing clothes in the bathroom sink is too much of a hassle.
Thanks for all your input. I really appreciate it!
