We are deciding between three options Coronado - 5 blocks from the famous hotel, Laguna Beach - 2 blocks from the beach, or La Jolla - 2 blocks to Tourmaline Beach.. May be somebody can advise what is the best area to stay.. We have kids 11-12 years old.. thanks

All of these areas are some of my favorite areas of the CA coast, we have spent our last 2 anniversaries in this area. There would be more to do for your family in the San Diego area, do you want to be busy or relax? Coronado gets my vote if you want to see the sites (Zoo, SeaWorld, etc.) in San Diego, you could do a day trip to La Jolla from Coronado.
If you just want to relax and slow down, Laguna Beach is gorgeous. It is also only 30 minutes away from Disneyland if you want to go there. Have fun on your trip! :)

Our kids that age love San Diego, as do us adults, so naturally Coronado gets my vote.
Out of those 3 Coronado has the widest white sandy beach. It has a small town feel but is just across the bay from downtown SanDiego so to me the best of both worlds.
