24 hours in San Fran

Me and my wife will be in San Fran in mid September for one night (arriving around noon) and then heading to wedding in Napa Valley the next day (probably need to leave mid morning). We are 30, very active, love music (rock, blues, reggae, jazz etc) love food (all types, but being land locked would love some great seafood). It sounds like Union Square is a very good and central place to stay and the walk from Union Square through China Town and North Beach would be a great way to spend the day.

My question would be if Union Square is our best bet to stay around and some restaurant suggestions (Seafood plus a great place in China Town for a late lunch)? Also, where is the best place for music and such that evening/night?

Thanks for the help.

Thanks for the music links. Any suggestions on what neigbhorhood to stay in?

Yes, stay in Union Square, the best location with lots of shopping, dining, and entertainment nearby. In Chinatown, House of Nanking is the best restaurant IMO (and others%26#39; clearly as there%26#39;s usually a line down the block, for dinner at least). For dinner, Hyde Street Grill is a nice place with very good, fresh seafood. If you have time for breakfast, try Dottie%26#39;s True Blue Cafe or Sears Fine Food, both within walking distance of Union Sq. Hope that helps!
