I am planning to be in Los Angeles in September for a few nights and would like to know the easiest way to get to Anaheim from out hotel. I looked at Lux buses but our hotel was not listed in the hotels the picked up from so i am looking basically for another company that will pick me up from my hotel in los angeles and drop me off at the hotel in Anaheim
Also how much would this trip be by taxi?
Or perhaps the cost of a taxi to LAX and i could get a shuttle bus from there to the hotel in Anaheim
LA to AnaheimIt depends. What hotel are you staying at?
The best way would be to rent a car. If you%26#39;re close to a metro stop, you can take the metro/train combination for about 2 hrs. Cab is $100-120. From most touristy parts of central LA, a cab to LAX is $50. From the beach areas, it%26#39;s less since they%26#39;re closer.
Where does the Lux bus pick up? Where is your hotel? A hotel where they pick up may be relatively close to yours.
If you%26#39;re only going there to go to Disneyland, you can buy a ticket from a tour company which includes admission and transportation for the day.
LA to AnaheimLux Bus does not list all of their ';pick up'; locations on their website. You need to call them with the name and full address of your hotel to see if they will pick you up there.
If you%26#39;re lucky enough to be in downtown L.A., you can take the metro (or a short taxi ride) to Union (rail) station for the 35 to 40 minute ride to the Disneyland area. You would then need to take a 10-minute ($10) taxi ride to your hotel. Train schedules and fares are at:
METROLINKTRAINS.COM (look at the Orange County Line). Your departure station is ';L.A. Union Station';. Your arrival station is either ';Fullerton'; or ';Anaheim'; (depending on the location of your hotel.
OR
AMTRAK.COM (your departure/arrival stations are the same):
Union Station (which Amtrak refers to as ';LAX'; although it is NOT at the airport of the same name; Fullerton (denoted as ';FUL'; and Anaheim ';ANA';.
If your hotel is located in Hollywood, you%26#39;ll need to add a 20 minute red line metro rail ride from Hollywood to Union Station. (Fare is $1.25)
I am staying at the Magic Castle Hotel and do not drive. I am also trying to avoid the train as LA is only 1 of my stops on a trip around America so i will have a lot of luggage with me
You have 2 options:
1. LuxBus (I%26#39;m sure they pick up at Magic Castle but if they don%26#39;t they DEFINITELY pick up at the Roosevelt (1-1/2 blocks from your hotel)
2. Taxi + Shared Van ride.
a. Take a taxi to Union (rail) station in downtown ($20);
b. then, transfer to a Pre-arranged Prime Time Shuttle ';shared van'; ride (redvans.com) to your hotel in Anaheim. NOTE: On the Redvans.com website, you need to do the following to make a reservation to be picked up at UNION STATION:
i. Click on ';Reservations and Fare Quotes'; then Select the option ';Arriving from an airport (one way).
ii. On the next screen, click on the ';Select your Airport'; drop-down menu and select LA UNION STATION AMTRAK
iii. Complete the rest of the screen.
The van will cost $25 + 15% tip = $29
So, the entire transfer will cost about $50 The advantage to the taxi + shared van option is that you can transfer at whatever time is convenient whereas LuxBus has specific pickup times.
Good luck!
Your hotel is in Hollywood near the Renaissance and the Roosevelt Hotels, so the Lux bus will definitely pick you up there. It%26#39;s one of the most touristy areas of LA, so it won%26#39;t be an issue.
Since you don%26#39;t want to take a train, your only other options are a SuperShuttle or another similar service or $100-120 cab ride.
Our hotel was not listed on the Lux bus list of hotel pick-ups either, but they didn%26#39;t hesitate to collect us at the Magic Castle Hotel in Hollywood.
We found the Lux bus to be the easiest way (not the cheapest) to get from Hollywood to Anahiem. The bus dropped us at the door of the Disneyland Hotel - no problems.
Do be sure to reconfirm a Lux Bus reservation as we had a mix up with our booking. I would advise calling them at least 24 hours before you travel.
Hope this helps.
Hi, my daughter and I will also be transferring from Hollywood (Orchid Suites) to Anaheim and I have just booked the Lux bus at a cost of US$30pp one way. Our hotel is also not listed (nor the one in Anaheim) however after booking you just email them again with your hotel and address and they amend the details accordingly and confirm back to you via email. Easy as. Barb was really helpful at reservations.
PS When queying reservations initailly with our hotel issue (same as you) Barb said to just select any LA Hotel or Anaheim hotel and let them know properly in return email. Hope this is clear.
I%26#39;ll be doing the same thing in August - transferring from a Hollywood hotel to an Anaheim hotel. I%26#39;ve checked the Lux bus, but the times were inconvenient (7am and 3pm).
I%26#39;ve looked at the cost of a private transfer and was quoted $110 + tip the other day (A+ Transportation). It%26#39;s not cheap, but given the distance, door-door convenience and choice of time my friend and I are considering it. We will be sharing the cost, so it%26#39;s only half each. We are also doing a 4 week tour of the US so will have a lot of luggage and don%26#39;t wish to take it on public transport.
You can also take a cab for $100-120.
