My husband and brother are driving from Visalia to Barstow (in one day, 9th May) and were hoping to take as scenic a route as possible. They%26#39;re used to driving narrow, winding roads in Scotland but do not have 4WD. Is the route via Camp Nelson, Jonsondale, Kernville, Lake Isabella etc ';do-able';? It%26#39;s hard to tell if these are dirt roads or paved.
If this does not sound a fun route, any suggestions? Many thanks!

If you go back to the first page, you will see a green narrow bar stating California forum. Below it states Search, and type in Camp Nelson. Several old threads from 2006 will come up with details about the road. It is not recommended for tourists, also from Camp Nelson to Lake Isabella, it is 85 miles. I don%26#39;t know if it would be acceptable if you have a rental car agreement.
