Where to stay for a next day trip to vegas?

Hi

I%26#39;m landing @ LAX on Good Friday for a next day drive to Vegas. I%26#39;m thinking of staying at either Hermosa Beach or Marina Del Ray. To catch the I15 through to Vegas, is it best to go North and join the 210 to connect, or am I better trying to catch the I15 further south? (via the Riverside Freeway, perhaps?)

Or is it a better idea staying at somewhere further south, Huntington beach, maybe?

I know how long roughly the journey takes, as I made the journey the opposite way last year, just trying to save time getting through LA etc..

Thanks In Advance!!

The question is what time you arrive in LA and if you want to be in an area where you can walk around and see a few things, grab a bite to eat, etc. I would recommend Santa Monica or Manhattan Beach if that%26#39;s what you%26#39;re looking for. If you%26#39;re driving on Saturday, there shouldn%26#39;t be a lot of traffic no matter what route you take, especially if you leave early. Just take the shortest route, which may be via the 10.

thx smartcooki

Arriving around 5pm local time, but we%26#39;ll have spent the best part of 13 hours on planes to get there, with a 5 %26amp; 6 year old, so was kinda hoping not to get stuck in rush hour traffic/ or a long drive, so somewhere nice nearby (Hermosa?)was the idea. Just hoping it wouldn%26#39;t add too long to our journey the next day.

thx again

Frank

Hermosa or Manhattan (next to Hermosa and a little closer to LAX) are both fine options. Have you considered flying to LV? It takes about an hour. That would be my suggestion especially in view of the ages of your kids. Why put them through 5 hours in the car after 13 hours on the plane the day before? The cost will be about $100 more but the time you%26#39;ll save in transit will give to time to spend in L.A. -- take a walk on the beach, etc.

BTW, best rates are on America West for your date.

Hermosa is right next to Manhattan. Manhattan has a bit more going on in terms of restaurants and liveliness. So I would pick Manhattan. There are a few more hotels there as well. And Santa Monica is even more lively.

thx all

Briefly thought about flying, however I%26#39;m coming back to Anaheim/San Diego(for a week) after 2 weeks working in Vegas, so I would have to pay for 2 flights (x 4 people) and also, at least 2 car rental deals. So, believe it or not, the price of your fuel makes the driving option the ideal choice.

I think I%26#39;ll go for somewhere around Manhattan/Hermosa beach.

Ideally would like to go back to Santa Monica (visited last year) however Hotel room prices seem way too high compared with beach towns a couple of miles down the road.

Thanks Again!

Take the 105 to the 605 to the 210 to the 15.

If you take the 91 all the way to the 15, you will almost certainly hit traffic between Anaheim and Corona on the 91, and again as you go through Norco on the 15. Whichever way you go, expect a bottleneck on the 15 where it rejoins the 215.

You can always bid on Priceline for a hotel in Santa Monica. Read www.bidddingfortravel.com to see what people have recently won there. You can usually win a 3-4 star hotel for less than $150.

I would recommend the Manhattan Beach Marriott. It is close to the airport, is attached to a shopping area and you can walk to good restaurants.

Many Thanks Tripadvisors

Looks like it%26#39;s Manhattan Beach for me!
