Planning a trip to Disneyland/San Diego in April.....

Hi everyone!

I%26#39;m trying to put together a trip out to Southern California the week of April 20th - I%26#39;d like to visit both Disney and San Diego while we%26#39;re there.

Can anyone offer any suggestions on lodging while we%26#39;re there? I of course am interested in getting as good a deal as possible, but we%26#39;re also big on comfort and will pay a little more for for things like a suite that has a separate room for the kids, etc.

As for Disney, I%26#39;d either like to be on the property or super close by (hopefully somewhere that provides a shuttle). We%26#39;d love to stay somewhere that has something like bunk beds for the kids (two boys, 4 and 9).

I am completely unfamiliar with San Diego - we are going there mainly for the ';sand and surf'; experience of the beach and want to spend downtime playing and hanging out. We may venture out to Legoland, we%26#39;ll see. Again, we%26#39;d like to stay somewhere relatively nice (4-star), on or near the beach.

My plan is to fly into LAX or Orange County, do two days at Disney, then drive down to San Diego for the remainder of the trip, flying back home to Denver from there. Does this all sound like a feasible plan?? As I type it, I%26#39;m starting to wonder! :c)

Any feedback is greatly appreciated!

Thanks! Suzette

Staying on the Disney property is very expensive. If you go just outside the park you will find dozens of hotels that will meet your needs including free transportation to the park.

As far as San Diego goes you%26#39;ll find that it can be pricey. In the past I%26#39;ve used priceline.com and got great deals in downtown for as little as $125 per night.Other places to consider would be staying around the Old Towne area, very quaint and you can use the Red Trolley for transportation. Now that I think about consider staying at the Embassy Suites Hotel. It%26#39;s right across the street from Seaport Village and just down the street from the famed Gaslamp District.

I would also consider flying into Orange County(John Wayne) airport. It%26#39;s obviously close to San Diego and easier to get in and out of.

Good Luck

Here are my suggestions, Fly into Orange County (SNA), My personal favorite off property hotel is the Fairfield Inn by Marriott. It%26#39;s right across the street, about a 5-10 minute walk to the parks. If your interested in a Suite type property, try the Residence Inn. You could pick up a rental car in the Anaheim area, drive yourself to San Diego and either drive back to Orange County to fly home or fly out of San Diego and drop the car off there.

No point in having a rental car if it%26#39;s going to be sitting in a parking lot most of the trip.

In San Diego, I always suggest to my clients the Paradise Point hotel or the Pacific Terrace. The Pacific Terrace hotel is usually my first choice.

If you belong to AAA, they have some great packages to Disneyland/San Diego that would include your air, car, hotel and all attraction tickets.

There is also a kids fly free promotion, your kids being 4 and 9 both qualify for free airline tickets as long as you have 2 grown ups flying with them.

If you were to do a package using the kids fly free, that could save you up to $500-$600 maybe even more.
