Team,
I am leaving LA to lucky last stop before we depart back home for Australia on October 1 2008.
We (wife, 9yo girl and I) will have done the rounds...
Anaheim/CAP for 3 days
SF for 4 days
NYC for 7 days
WDC for 1 day
NF for 1 day
LV/GC/MV for 5 days
We already have US, Hollywood, Beverly Hills booked fo rthe next 3 days but need to question these choices and what other choices do we have to fill our remaing time in LA?

3 Days to Kill in LA............
Most ideal place to stay in LA to wind down and be central to all these things..?
3 Days to Kill in LA............
Great thoughts...
Any more?
Kang,
I think we%26#39;re baffled by all of the abbreviations. I can%26#39;t fathom what CAP, WDC, NF or MV are. In any event, you are no doubt a person in a hurry -- you waited only about an hour before posting a sarcastic remark that we weren%26#39;t responding fast enough,
I%26#39;ll give you a suggestion: People in L.A. sleep late! The time of your last posting, 8:47 am is 8:47 eastern standard time (the time on the east coast). It was only 5:47 a.m. in L.A. at that time.
In general, try to be a little more patient and a little less sarcastic (It helps a lot when you travel -- especially to a different country). After all, it was YOUR error that you posted at 4 in the morning, not ours. I wonder if an apology will be as forthcoming as your complaint was.
Keep in mind: the contributors to this site are unpaid and do so out of kindness. ';What goes around, comes around';.
As far as your desire to visit Universal, Hollywood and Beverly Hills is concerned, US and Hollywood are 10 minutes apart and Beverly Hills is about 30 minutes from Hollywood. You haven%26#39;t indicated if you will hire a car or what kinds of things (in general) interest you.
Los Angeles is the SECOND LARGEST CITY in the U.S. and it is EXTREMELY spread out, Without knowing if you%26#39;ll have a car or what kinds of things you like (museums, natural beauty, architecture, historical monuments, celebrity-spotting, shopping, sports/physical activities, etc,) we have no way to direct you.
Take a look at the FAQs at the top of the TOPIC LIST. There is a sub-topic called ITINERARY IDEAS that might help a little. You can also look at the NEIGHBORHOODS area.
Tell us about yourself: your general interests and whether you are driving or utilizing public transit.
I was put off by the post%26#39;s header. It doesn%26#39;t take much imagination to kill time. You don%26#39;t need my help to do that. Go to the movies. Watch TV. Get on the 405 or the 10 or the 101 during rush hour. That should do it.
I THINK WDC is Washington DC, NF is Niagra Falls, LV is Vegas, GC Grand Canyon, and CAP California Adventure....However, still don%26#39;t know what MV is :)
I%26#39;ve been to all these and can tell you:
- Cut NYC to 5-6 days and add 1-2 days to DC. It%26#39;s a great city definitely worth more time, especially if you%26#39;re taking the time (4 hrs each way) to get there from NYC.
- You may want to cut Niagra Falls. It%26#39;s a full 7-8 hrs from NYC and it%26#39;s really not worth the hassle. Do it another trip when you%26#39;re in Toronto. Canadian side is much better. You%26#39;ll get to NF this way after a long commute and wonder why you did.
- California Adventure is not really worth it either. It%26#39;s not very nice and not unique. If you really want to do another theme park in that area, go to Knott%26#39;s Berry Farm.
- I hope you%26#39;re renting a car for the LA part.
- There is tons to do in LA besides two small areas you mentioned. Please read the FAQs here which list most of them. And rent a car.
- What do you mean you have ';US, Hollywood, and Beverly Hills booked';??
I can%26#39;t make heads or tails out of the question. He has Beverly Hills booked for the next 3 days? But asks to kill 3 days in LA? I%26#39;m baffled. What does the OP means when they ask what other choices because they need to question choices?
LA is the same as Hollywood and Beverly Hills.
Did you read our FAQs at the top of the LA forums?
Sorry guys - no offence intended.

I%26#39;ll start again with more tact.
Kind Regards

I would stay either in Beverly Hills or in Santa Monica.
Beverly Hills is eben more central, but Santa Monica offers a nice seaside location.
Smart Cooki.
You are correct in all your abbreviation guesses.
MV = Monument Valley.
I will consider reducing time in NYC for more time WDC. We will be taking the Amtrack train.
We also intend to fly to NF for a day trip - woudl this still be worth doing then?
Why isn%26#39;t CAP really worth it and how is Knott%26#39;s Berry Farm unique?
Recommended car type for LA?
What I meant was we have Universal Studios, Hollywoord and Beverly Hills earmarked on itinery - but still open to change if need be.
Regards
Kangarooo!
I must admit I had quite a laugh....
I agree dump CAP and do Knotts Berry Farm especially with a 9 yr old gilf. Are you doing Disney? If so, forget CAP
NYC - 4-5 days MAX
NF - forget it, you are too far, save it for another trip although beautiful, do it when visiting Toronto, Canada.
Rent a comfortable 4 door with AC as you%26#39;re going to be in the car a lot.
