Been to Disneyland 4 times and this will be the second time w/ the kids. We of course have our faves, Space Mountain, Big Thunder RR, Pirates, etc.... Just wondering if any of you have a least favorite or one that you always skip??
Just for fun... what to miss
You know, it was just intended for fun to see if people have any rides in common that they don%26#39;t like or always seem to avoid. We will of course hit all of our favorites, but we may be pressed for time, so I was just curious to see if they are any we shouldn%26#39;t waste our time in line for (Nemo?)...
Just for fun... what to miss
I will chime in, Autopia. The kids are too young to drive alone and too small to steer straight, keep bouncing the car off that inner rail. The Nightmare Before Christmas makeover for Haunted Mansion. It looks impressive, but never liked the movie and the kids thought it was too loud inside.
I don%26#39;t see anything wrong with your questions, so I%26#39;ll answer. We never ride the Matterhorn Bobsleds. I know I%26#39;m committing some kind of Disney treachery, but as a family we%26#39;ve never liked them. Rode them once, and that did it for us. So we definitly skip it everytime we go.....
Forgot abouth the Matterhorn. The adults love Matterhorn, kids think it is way to bumpy of a ride, they prefer Space Mountain! So we ride Space Mountain alot!!!!!
I think it%26#39;s a great question. We will be coming again in June, 3rd year in a row and 6th trip overall. Everyone has different reasons for enjoying or not enjoying certain rides or attractions. Personally I don%26#39;t care for the Matterhorn. I feel its a bit rough and not all that exciting. Pirates is boring to me but I always go on a few times when we are there because the Wife and Kids love it. Autopia is a snoozer also. However, I love Space Mountain, Big Thunder, and Indiana Jones.
I always skip Toontown.
I rode the Winnie the Pooh ride one and then decided it wasn%26#39;t for me, but if I took a small child to DL I would go for it.
I never ride Splash. I have considered it and asked for advice on seating. Maybe one day. I just have a lot of fun watching people come down the drop. I usually stand near the River where the boats come out. I love to see people%26#39;s reactions.
I never go to Tom Saywer%26#39;s Island, but want to now that Pirate%26#39;s Lair is there.
Keel Boats (Do they still have these?)
Columbia Sailing Ship
Autopia - it%26#39;s a one hour drive to DL, I don%26#39;t need to drive any more than that!
I choose one Main Street Vehicle and ride that one in the morning when I get there. I will ride the same one on every visit for years, ignoring all others, until I decide to try something else. I used to do the double decker trolley/bus. Now it%26#39;s the Horse Drawn Trolley. I have done the old automobile once, which was nice because the driver told me about the history of it and how DL takes care of it.
I have not ridden Space Mt. since 1999, and I go to DL once or twice a year. I didn%26#39;t like the changes to Space. I hear it has gotten better since then, but the thing is the line up has always frustrated me.
I will be skipping HM on my next visit most likely. I feel like it%26#39;s a downer to go in there. Plus, on my last visit there were lots of unruly guests in the stretching room and the hallway was very crowded. I got sort of a claustaphobia panic reaction. It%26#39;s just not worth it for me. If I do go on it, it will probably be near closing so there will be less people. The ride does have sort of a depressive effect on my mood, but I appreciate the imagineering. So it can be a tough choice.
I never ride any rides in Fantasyland. I usually don%26#39;t take kids and the lines are usually too long anyway. I would like to change this, though, and at least go on Peter Pan on my next visit.
Well, I have one final thing to say. I think I truly miss most of the rides I have decided on purpose to not go on! Last visit I rode It%26#39;s a Small World right before closing, which was very nice. I hadn%26#39;t ridden it in, I would say, 10 years. I got a new appreciation for it. Same thing with the Jungle Cruise. I didn%26#39;t ride that after Indy went in. I rode it last summer and loved it!
I think it you can return to DL often, at least once a year, planning to skip a ride you feel burnt out on or that doesn%26#39;t do much for you can help you get out of a rut. Then on a later visit, when you ride it again, it seems fresh and more fun.
I have NEVER EVER ridden one of the cars/trolleys/wagons on Main St. Holy cow....not even as a little tyke with my parents. Huh. Maybe I should try that next time, huh?
Let%26#39;s see...
Innoventions, basically one big ad.
HISTA, good once, not worth repeating
Most of Toontown, except for Roger Rabbit
Winnie the Pooh if it has any sort of line
In DCA.
Golden Dreams
The Farm Area
I usually skip Splash Mountain. It%26#39;s so remotely located and the line us usually way too long for my liking.
Startours - It makes me ill.
Storybook Land Canal Boats - b.o.r.i.n.g.
Toontown is a skip.
The Riverboat is a skip unless I run out of things to do.
At California Adventure I skip the Sun Wheel, Muppets 3-D, and Golden Zephyr.
