what is best winery for champagne/sparkling-
Gloria Ferrer, Domain Chandon/Carneros/other?
should we do tour or tasting
I will be there end of February-is weather decent?
champagne lover
I love the sparklies, too. Gloria Ferrer is one of my favorite stops for getting my bubbly fix...it%26#39;s such a beautiful winery! J Winery also offers a lot of sparkling wines for tasting...I got a flight of four last time I was there, and each glass came with a delicious tiny snack to complement it.
champagne loverI also very much enjoy Gloria Ferrer. Iron Horse (www.ironhorsevineyards.com) near Sebastopol in western Sonoma County is another worthwhile sparkling wine producer. Altho%26#39; Korbel (www.korbel.com) near Guerneville is a very large production facility, they have a great tour, historic bldgs, beautiful grounds and a tasty deli/cafe.
I%26#39;m pretty much just echoing the sentiments of everyone else on here, but we had a fantastic time at Gloria Ferrer. The place is beautiful, we loved the champagne, and the staff was very friendly. We didn%26#39;t make the tour, but were allowed to meander about the grounds, and it was very nice.
We also visited Korbel, which is a bit of a drive from Gloria Ferrer, and though the vistas are phenomenal and their tasting room is quite nice, we were disappointed by the tour. It%26#39;s more of a Korbel museum than actually seeing what goes on in making champagne today. Nothing terribly wrong with that, just not what we were expecting.
I guess it depends on how much time you have as to which wineries to visit. I heartily recommend GF, and Korbel is fun if you have the time. Enjoy!
I love Domaine Chandon in Yountville, nice people here, very pretty grounds and spacious tasting room with an outdoor area to enjoy your tastings and great wines! :)
Come on now, Tripadvisors! tallpeople did not limit us to recommend only these wineries. I agree with Gloria Ferrer in every way.
How could we avoid stating the wonderful attributes of Schramsberg?! It must be listed among the top 3 - easily! The grounds, the history, the caves, the tour, the wines. Which winery is better in any of these categories!
At Schramsberg one must do the tour and tasting - both! You must call weeks ahead for reservations. They book up fast.
Definitely do Schramsberg. It is fantastic.

It is located on Silvarado Trail in Napa.
Nice champagnes %26amp; Nice view indoor/outdoor tasting area. We have been there many times.
Korbel may be too far.
