Residence Inn Anaheim resort area

I am trying to book rooms for a family trip. There is 20 people all together, 3 are older children. I was looking at the Residence Inn in Garden Grove and I am wondering if anyone has stayed there and what the opinion is. Is it close enough to walk, and are the beds and rooms nice? I would like to know about the breakfast and if it is a good one. My other choice is the Doubletree Guest suites. Any info about good hotels for a group this size would be greatly appreciated.

There are two Residence Inn%26#39;s in the area, the closer of the 2 is the one on the corner of Manchester and Disney Way. The Garden Grove location is too far to walk for most folks.

The DoubleTree on Harbor, just south of the Convention Center is fairly new, and I would say walkable, though on the edge of that option.

We stayed at the Residence Inn Garden Grove in October.

It is definitely not walkable but we found the ART to be pretty good although we do prefer to be in walking distance to the park.

Our room was great. We got the room with one bedroom with a king and another bedroom with bunkbeds. Each of the rooms had an adjoining bathroom with bathtubs and a television. There was also a full sized kitchen with a table for 4, a desk and a small couch and chair and a television.

We were very pleased with the rooms and our bed was the most comfortable I have ever slept in!

The breakfast was very nice but busy. There are make your own waffles, apples, oranges, bananas, muffins, bagels-a little hard, three kinds of cereal, yogurt, fresh fruit salad, strawberries and whip cream for the waffles, cubed hash brown potatoes, scrambled eggs and scrambled eggs with cheese and sometimes round sausage, depending on the day.

Unfortunately, I am the only breakfast person in my family so this feature was not all that important.

However, if you are breakfast eaters, this could be a great money saver.

I found that although it was usually crowded, we could usually find a place to eat and you also have the option to take it back to your room. I always took a few pieces of fruit for later.

I found that if something was out, the staff was very accommodating.

The on-site store sold water at a pretty reasonable price.

The hotel itself is kitty corner to Target and to a liqour/convenience store, a Baker%26#39;s Square restaurant? and several restaurants-Outback Steakhouse, Red Robin and Joe%26#39;s Crab Shack. There is also an italian place just down the block called Buca di Beppo.

The Hyatt behind the Residence Inn has a Starbucks and a Pizza Hut Express and a nice restaurant.

The nice thing about the restaurants around this hotel is that they are not as packed as the ones nearer to Disneyland.

We really enjoyed the room and the hotel itself and the staff was adequate.

I would say that the only thing we didn%26#39;t like about it is that it was not within walking distance!

As we are only 4 people and don%26#39;t really need the extra room and not breakfast eaters, we are staying at a place within walking distance.

However, if we needed the extra room and ate breakfast, we would stay there again and take the ART.

We just got back from DL and stayed at Garden Grove and this was our 2nd time doing so. Love it. First time we had the room with King in one and 2 queens in the other and this time we had king and bunkbeds in other. Wouldn%26#39;t do that again. I have 3 kids and it really didn%26#39;t work out. But we just put one on the haida bed in the main room.

Other than that, which was our own fault, it was fantastic. Love the beds and pillows, 2 bathrooms, eating area, cooking area and living area. Breaky is great each day and although the ART took longer this time (we went in less busy time last time) it%26#39;s still reliable and not too much money.

I would recommend this hotel a thousand times over. We love it and will always stay there when we have the kids.

Hi there,

Our family really likes the space and privacy offered by the Marriott Residence Inn in Garden Grove. It has a nice family feel to it. Most family-sized rooms have two bathrooms. However, there is no way you can walk to Disney from this property. It must be two miles. You either use the Anaheim Resort Transit system which is quite convenient or you drive and pay $11 to park at Disney.

The pools here are very nice. There is a sport court and a barbeque area which are under-utilized by hotel guests. Also, the breakfast buffet is terrific and offers a good variety of foods. If you have kids, this buffet is a life-saver. Easily worth $30 per day just for this feature, especially if you have big eaters. Plus think of the time savings if you had to go into a restaurant, order, and wait for the food to be served. This is a huge timesaver as the food is already hot and ready to be eaten.

It is a great value for families!
