Hi all, We will be going to san francisco in May on May 17 (.First trip) Staying in union square area . Can anyone suggest a restaurant for a Sat. night . Would like our first dinner to be somewhere with a great atmosphere , not stuffy though . The restaurants I%26#39;ve been thinking of (We have 5 dinners to plan) through my research are: Frascati(booked for Monday night) Mamacita, Slanted Door, A seafood rest. around fisherman%26#39;s wharf for after night alcatraz tour(on Sunday night), and 5th one? I%26#39;ve been trying to plan a different type of cusine and a different area of city for each night see different parts of the city. Any suggestions greatly appreciated!
Please help me with anniversary dinner restaurant.Scoma%26#39;s for the Fisherman%26#39;s Wharf dinner.
For your Anniversary, around Union Square, we love Farallon, it features wonderful seafood. The decor is whimsical, undersea setting. They have blown jellyfish fixtures to light up the jelly bar area, and many tiny lights inside. There are several dining rooms to choose from. The pool room on the main floor is large, but the balcony seating, at the top of the grand staircase is more intimate for special occasion dining, and looks over the jellyfish lights. We were there last year for just such a celebration.

Please help me with anniversary dinner restaurant.I would highly recommend Gary Danko for your special anniversary dinner. I didn%26#39;t find it stuffy at all, and while it%26#39;s not inexpensive, I thought it was a very good value.
The food and service are amazing.
Not sure if you can get reservations this close to the date, but you should try for sure.
Thanks for the suggestions!Looking forward to trying them.
Boulevard by the Embarcadero is very good, great food and excellent service. :)
Be aware that Scoma%26#39;s does not take reservations, so choose it at a time and night when all the other Torontoans will not be clamoring for a seat. :~)
Just tried for Gary Danko and every Friday and Saturday night is booked solid for the next 2 months! I doubt you%26#39;d be able to get a reservation on that Saturday, which coincidentally was the same night we were looking at too.
Different type of cuisine and neighborhood: how about Aziza? They have a tasting menu. http://www.aziza-sf.com/
Could also do Ame. http://www.amerestaurant.com/
I would keep calling occasionally to see if you can get into Gary Danko, or even try walking in. It really is that great. They told my Dad and me that they were completely booked too, but we walked in and they got us seated at the bar quickly. The service is top-notch, and the food is amazing. It%26#39;s not stuffy at all, either - the perfect amount of elegance with great but unpretentious service. I highly recommend it!
I realized after I posted my comment that I should clarify that, no, I obviously don%26#39;t want you to have your anniversary dinner at a bar counter of a restaurant. My point was just to say keep trying and they might squeeze you in at a table. Have fun!
Thanks !
