laguna cliffs marriott in walking distance to stuff?

going this winter %26amp; still debating where to stay. we have marriott points so thinking of this place in dana point. but really want something centralized where we can walk from hotel for dinner, beach, drinks, etc. not sure if we%26#39;ll have a car yet. so its either here or one of the many hotels in laguna beach right on the ocean %26amp; its seems from what ive read that most of laguna hotels you can walk everywhere. any thoughts? thanks...

The location of the Marriott is very good. It sits right above Dana Point Marina and there is a dedicated walkway which goes down to the Marina.

The Marina has numerous restaurants and shops. In addition, you have access to all the water sports facilities of the Marina.

The high speed catamaran leaves from Dana Point and goes to Catalina Island if you would enjoy a daytrip. Also, there are many sea fishing trips which can be booked. The closest walkable beach is Doheny and the Salt Creek Beach(below Ritz Carlton) is a few minutes away.

The Marine Institute is located in the Marina and a nice place to visit and there are tide pools closeby.

The local bus #1 leaves within a short walk of the hotel and you can take it to visit Laguna Beach and Newport Beach. To tell you the truth it%26#39;s not a bad idea to have a car for Orange County. If you don%26#39;t want one for the entire time then just rent for a day;the hotel can provide.

Clearly, Laguna Beach is wonderful,also. The entire South Orange County coastline is truly beautiful. Also, located in Dana Point is the Ritz Carlton and the ST REgis in case you have more Marriott points or some extra Starwood points.

The Marriott looks over Doheny Beach. Aliso Beach is North on the Coast Highway towards Laguna Beach and sits next to the Montage Hotel. It%26#39;s about a 5-10min drive. If you have no car, then the #1 bus runs up the Coast Highway and stops at both beaches.

There is plenty of parking at Aliso Beach including a dedicated beach parking lot plus more on the Coast Highway.

There are a number of good hotels in both Laguna Beach and Dana Point.

Excluding the Montage(more than 300),there is a Best Western Laguna Reef across the street from the Montage and close to Aliso. In Laguna;close to the village is the Inn at Laguna, and also the Surf and Sand. In Dana Point,there is the Ritz Carlton,St. REgis(both 5 stars and rooms can be had for less than 300. The Blue Lantern Inn in Dana Point is a B%26amp;B with lovely views.

Casa Laguna Inn in Laguna is a favorite of many on this forum.

At the DP Marriott you are across the street from the DP Harbor which has many restaurants and shops. You are also walking distance to the famous surf spot of Doheny beach. However, it is rokcy and quite polluted. Laguna is much more picturesque and has many more walkable options for dining and nice clean, wide beaches.
